If you're used to camping at a campground with a picnic table, fire pit, electricity, and running water, dispersed camping will be a completely new experience. Dispersed camping (boondocking) is free camping on public land outside established campgrounds without any available utilities. They do, however, provide privacy and a wonderful experience. Check out the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) or the National Forest to find suitable sites for dispersed camping.
One thing that adds an intriguing edge to dispersed camping is the flexibility of time, which means that you can camp at any moment of the day or night. However, after setting up camp, the need to reserve your spot if you embark on a hike or tour of the area arises.
